Episode 1.4 -- Tequila + Technophile = Carnage

With Nicole and Justine, providing social support to a fellow tennis coaching grad student, we shall call him Johnny, Emily and Austin began the evening feeling slightly incomplete. Fortunately, they recovered quickly due to the anticipation of romance in the air and a love-filled vibe provided by the world’s cutest couple. As the snowflakes fell, while alcohol was consumed, the adventure started with the new four pack trekking over to the trendy bar. Despite initially wondering what the night entailed for their supportive counterparts, the vibemaster and wordsmith refocused and managed to take in what the view had to offer.

As the night wore on, tequila shots were had, breasts were bared by the world’s cutest couple’s straight friend, and people were watched. (Note the verb watched as opposed to spoken or danced with.) Alas the lights came on at 1:45 am and the new four pack, was still, yes a four pack. Unfortunately, the most action that occurred during the night spanned a total of 15 devastating minutes when the wordsmith lost her iphone.

While arguing with the vibemaster about wearing the someone else’s leather jacket, the wordsmith realized her iphone was missing. Unclear about where the phone disappeared to, we scoured the bar. The results yielded nothing but an emotional, technophile who could not bear to lose her connection to the world. We left the bar in disarray, confusion, sadness and angst encompassing the emotional spectrum during the car ride home. Consequently, this story did not end at the Country Bar as the iphone carnage took a toll that not even karaoke could fix.

Editor’s note: (The story does have a happy ending for our favorite technophile. A fellow bar patron picked up the phone, and after a trip to the Apple store along with an awkward exchange with the patron 2 days later, Austin now is reconnected twice over and emotionally replenished.)
